No worries, my comments are aimed at the knife making process. If it's just the sheath and handle, you could make a specific request for the materials you need. Like I say, it is my least favourite part of the process, if only because I am so bad at it. From the little experience I have, I think it's one of those skills that will take time to develop and that usually means a long line of failure before getting the result you're after. At the moment I stick to things I know I can be successful at, I think that's probably "fear of failure" so perhaps that's why my comments appear so acerbic.

Big power hacksaw blades make good scrapers with an edge you can shave with, so I would expect you can make a knife blade with the same result blunt blade are cheap as well

They do make excellent scrapers. I’ve the tail (end of spine) from a porpoise (I think). At some point Id like to make a fillet knife using a power hacksaw blade.

I’ve got loads of those from when dad had his engineering business, blimey can they take a keen edge.

Even better now I’ve got a water stone wheel, you could shave with them if you wanted

Thanks for the offer but I have a stack of them as gasket scrapers already

I have decided to but the parts individually as a mora blade is inexpensive from some of the retailers mentioned above then when I have time I can have access to a full forge with power hammers that I will go and have a play in

That sounds much more sensible. Incidentally, if any forum members want to “have a go” with a bit of forging and are anywhere near W. London, I am more than happy to oblige.
