Oh Jeez.

Easier to bring the cables into the back of the unit and mount a couple of surface-fix boxes.

Here's one i did recently. I try to keep the copper out of the way of the shelf then there are minimum nasty cut-outs to do.

Wozz, Most taps now use flexi tails of 375- 450 long so if the top of the unit is where the bricks are, aren’t the mains/hot too high? More with isolating valve on hot?
I put the surfsce mount boxes near the front by the doors. The last thing you want is to be hoiking out a cupboard crammed full of cleaning products to get to the plug let alone water dripping on those.

I think on this one I carefully drilled the holes so the wire went directly out of the bottom of the plug and out of the bottom of the unit!

My last house had in cupboard sockets upside down…and holes through cabnets 21/2” diameter for the plugs cut with a bread knife

The saga of the sink: We had a catalogue posted to us so we could look through and pick all the bits we wanted so we were prepared when we went to order it. We knew the catalogue number of the sink style and colour we wanted so when the designer was filling in the order we gave that number, but when the builder dropped the sink into the worktop to check it fitted the hole he cut Mrs Robo came in and said "that's the wrong colour" it was a different shade of grey to the one we had picked. Turns out they had issued a new catalogue and the number we had from the old catalogue had been allocated to exactly the same style sink, but in a different shade and because the builder had trashed the box and chucked it in the skip they wouldn't accept it as a return so we had to buy a new one. At least I managed to sell the old one for about half it's value so it wasn't a total loss.

Plug for the washing machine, back panel is modified so it can be removed to release plug if we need to get the washer out.

The builders had some fun measuring and marking out the cut outs in the splashback to match the electrics boxes.

New kitchen door fitted, we had the same type fitted to lounge at the same time and the downstairs WC got the door on the left of the pic.

id have been moaning to the supplyer that they had posted you a catalogue and they did not say about the new one and demanded a new sink free of charge for there cockup

We even had the old catalogue with us when we did the order and they didn't comment I think after the losses they incurred due to the "missing 400mm" incident they didn't want to lose any more, by this time the builder was that ****** off with them he was going to move his account to a different branch.

Tbh, even now, a factual, erring on strongly worded letter to their head office would probably get you your money back. My big brother is a barrister who specialises in this sort of thing. Want me to ask under what rules and regs you were misled? I'm sure you were.

Saying that I think he's deregistering from the bar this year and retiring if he hasn't already. Offer still stands.

(I on the other hand will not be deregistering from the bar anytime soon... )

As I see it, they have a defence about using just a part number without checking the latest catalogue, Caveat Emptor. However, if the customer had asked specifically for a particular sink in Dove Grey, then regardless of catalogue number issues, that is what should be delivered and there is therefore a claim for "not as described".

Thanks but it's been a couple a couple of years and has to go through the builder who holds the account so we've written it off.

The old external window was supposed to be removed and fitted in the new extension wall, but due to the falling out with the builder stayed where it was betwixt lounge and kitchen.

And it's gone

I would love to know what the number meant on the old frame.

Kitchen power cables run in conduit almost the length of the house to reach the CU.

Let there be light.

Getting to the finishing touches now, new skirting board going in.

The last job was to make a radiator cover.

Builders have finished, now we wait for the decorator.

The decorator came highly recommended (and expensive) but her attention to detail was second to none.

First day was filling and sanding followed by a second round of the same on the areas she wasn't happy with.

Day two was cutting in with primer.

Day three was prime/undercoat everywhere.

Day four was finish coat.

Mrs Robo picked a Teak stain for the woodwork, so the dresser, fanlight and radiator cover top were done in that.

Luckily there was some left over because Mrs Robo bought another cupboard, so I gave that one a couple of coats.

The vinyl flooring arrived the day before we went on hols, our neighbour keeps an eye on the house while we're away and he showed his wife our new kitchen, now she wants one

All finished.

I put a coat rack up and Mrs Robo immediately filled it with her stable coats

New blinds fitted to window and door.
