Hi all,
I've got a kingsland ironworker with a small guillotine/ shear type thing.
It cuts mild steel fine up to 12mm but recently I've been cutting 6mm aluminium flat bar which leaves a nasty burr along the cut.
I've taken the blades out and turned them round so they are on a New edge.
Also, before I swapped them round I put a feeler gauge between them which came in at 0.9mm.
I tried cutting at the 0.9 with new blades but still got the rough edges.
So I adjusted the blades closer and closer until the aluminium cut cleanly , which was about 0.3mm.
My only concern now is, if I start cutting thicker mild steel on it at this clearance, will it damage the blade?
