Hi all. Followed a link from Ausmini.com and ended up here
I am a graphic designer who loves Minis - four on the driveway at the moment, although one is past saving and will leave soon.
That leaves one long term project (nearly finished replacing the rear and rhs-rear panels to correct accident damage), a Mk II 850 which needs some rust cut-out & replaced then a respray.
The pride of the fleet is the Clubman Estate which is my wife's daily driver and is currently having new front floors put in by a friend as I can't do it soon enough - too busy with work. Which is a shame as it's just the sort of project I've kitted myself up to do - all the gear but no time <fume fume>
Anyway, I did a MIG/TIG course at the local polytech and probably would have given up without it. Now I love welding and constantly thinking of projects to make. I've made loads of racks, carts and so on but getting into more sheetmetal. I may end up making some steel speaker pods for my Minis, rather than the usual wooden ones.
Oh, I also have a 1970 Commer 2500 van (ex-bus) and there's pics of the fleet on my blog and more pics on my Flickr account.
Cheers,
Simon.
