We've just got ourselves a Kemppi MasterMIG 355 and have been playing with the weld assist function and a question arises, if I am doing a butt weld which needs a number of runs to fill up the joint, do I just set the weld assist programme at the nominal plate thickness and not worry that it is thinner at the bottom of the groove, or do I tell it the plate is thinner when I am at the bottom of the joint and increase the plate thickness setting as the weld is filled up.
I'm interested to know how clever, or not, the programme is.
