The drive system is poor, the direct fit torches are expensive and the set itself is quite cheaply made. The EWM Picomig synergic with 4x 37mm drive rolls, a decent sized torquey drive motor and Germanic build quality is a tough act to follow and in 7 years of selling/hiring them I’ve only had one fail.
The Kemppi is a better made machine than the R-Tech, but the EWM is a step up from the Kemppi minarc.
There is at least one EWM dealer in Scotland, as well as some Kemppi outlets, see if you can try or at least get a look at each for comparison.
If you go on the EWM site to look for prices don’t be put off. The price displayed is list, healthy discount is available from the range of UK dealers so have a shop around.
I can’t comment on the R-Tec but I have the Evo and highly recommend it. I have recently started using Itd or aluminium and once foaled in it is lovely
Another vote for Kemppi...its the intelligent weld setup I like.
All I do is dial in material and thickness and it's ready to weld and rarely needs tweaking from the standard setup....saves alot of time and swearing in my opinion.
It basically welds itself provided I point the torch in the right direction!
