Kemppi Evo 200 wow easy peasy on Auto

Hi All,

I have been reading this forum for a while deciding whether to get a Mig as the welder who comes to do work for me lets me down time and time again. The last time I tried was with a sealey... Ohh dear what a mess.

I have started working on vans Vivaros and Traffics and needed something to weld thin metal. SO I took the plunge and brought a Kemppi Evo200 on an offer and broke the bank.. Still i thought I normally pay 100 pounds or so for the mobile guy so it will pay for its self and then turn around on vehicles will be so much quicker.

Welder came today and thought I would clean down an old wing and see if I blew holes. Set it to 0.8mm on auto with a feed at 7 and 15cfm on regulator and off I went... Now I know theres lot of you on here that are welders who may think its not so good but for a virgin (except for playing with a stick 20 years ago. stick it did as well hahaha) I think it went extremely well. Full penetration through the metal.. Not bad for a near 50 year old with eyes that are going wonky I thought.

I can highly recommend this welding machine its idiot proof. Best thing I have ever brought.. Well the wifes wedding ring was (got to say that she is reading over my shoulder hahaha) 2nd best then.

Have to agree with you there. That's straight out the box. Last time I held a welding stick or anything was over 20 years ago. To be able to write and do sorta straight lines ;-) on my first go was a joy. To say I am chuffed is an understatement. I have seen some horror storys in pics and video so this was a gamble for me. An expensive gamble. Still its a lifetime bit of kit if u look after it. You can wind this machine down to 0.5mm thickness on Auto. I couldn't find on their literature the minimum thickness so it was a nice surprise. 20A to 200 amp range.
