Just a little ESAB that I carry in the truck. very basic but just wont quit! Been dropped, rained on, bounced about on my third earth clamp second torch. The thing I will miss when I go three in one is being able to call across to a non welder for them to turn the dial up or down to a different setting and they can
A lot of guys now honestly cant stick weld to a std you can send them out into an unseen job (or burn according to another firms boss I spoke to the other week). This gave rise to the mini migs but the need for stick outside has ensured the manufacturers get into the 3-1
The old smash welds were a bit like that. I've got a freind with a 180 amp smash weld and that thing looks like it's been through the top gear hylux test but it just won't give up. As you say very basic controls it's out lived a number of torches and work returns but the cogs keep turning. It's even got a flat spot on one of the wheels where it's locked up but still gets dragged about. You'd never know it was an esab if you were to try and tell from the colour or badge as there is very little of either left on it. Next time I'm there I'll take a snap as it's a true solder of a unit.
