My mig 180 was having similar problems being kept in the shed after a prolonged damp spell. I just kept turning the control knob and watching the display and after a while it started working.

I have the 200 Evo...the left control knob stopped working and I had to replace it. There's another Kempi thread on the forum where someone is doing a similar fix.

Yea the part is around £5 I think...maybe less. It's just a generic part.
The wire feed motors can also break too (mine did)...it's a cheap generic motor but Kemppi want a fortune for it!
I should add that I've had my Kemppi 12 years so all things considered I'm still very happy with it.

If you've eliminated any torch blockages then it's worth testing the motor. Just see if you can easily stop it turning (with no wire in the machine)...a few of us have had motor issues (there's another thread somewhere on the motor replacement).

I have change the liner, it’s brand new. Glad that you mentioned the motor. I followed the post with motor issues here and got the recommended (exact) one but then found out that the shaft is shorter then original so have not changed it. Original motor seems ok can’t stop it by hand but if torch hose is not somehow straight without sharp turns it’s slipping from time to time. This is my first experience with a mig machine so not sure if this is normal for the drag to increase that much if torch cables are not straight. Attaching pics. Any help appreciated

What size wire are you using?
That's quite a sharp turn for the wire to get from that small reel into the plastic guide and drive unit. Could be a lot of friction there.
Maybe they're not really set up to take small reels......does it sit right on the mounting?
Mine seizes up if there is a paper label between the reel and the body of the welder.

I used 0.8mm with roller wheel on 0.8-1.00 side. I actually got two small reels just to test, one with normal gas steel wire and other gasless one both 0.8mm, I had to change polarity of course for the gasless. Gasless was even worst so I got Knurl Groove roller from Kemppi which worked fine but ( always but ) in a few instances the push from that roller was so hard that it jumbled the wire after the roller and the input of the liner. Not to mention that the weld doesn't come well as speed is probably not constant.

Sounding like an issue with the torch or liner maybe. Is the liner the standard steel one or teflon?
In the past I've had issues with tips overheating and constricting the feed ...but that was mostly with aluminium wire.

Those encoders have long been an issue for Kemppi in my experience. I did the encoders on two out of 5 mastertig sets at work.

I use Teflon for everything (just too lazy). Steel is actually better with steel I think...teflon can easily be damaged.
Did you take the tip off and retest without the tip? Also I'm assuming the wire is clean!
