Does any one eat, drink or make it on here?
The wife had be purchasing it for months now and I started making my own a few weeks back.
It is suppose to be good for you so I thought I would add it to my diet too.

I take it on and off.
Some of the shop-bought ones you have to be careful of. They're pasturized, so all of the good bacteria is killed off.

Are you using natural sheep stomach enzyme or what? In addition to kefir culture, there is also a wonderful thing like acidophilus.

There are an increasing number of reports outlining the outrageous risks of ultra processed foods. I can hardly believe how bad some of these industrial foodstuffs are, many of which are technically edible but without necessarily being literally a food!

The long and the short of it being, if it's wrapped in plastic and any of the ingredients are not items you might commonly find in a kitchen, it's ultra processed. I'll see if I can find a link to a RI lecture off YouTube on the subject. It is horrifying...

yep thats why i have started making it myself, I tried to make some from some store brought stuff but it wasnt the same as making it from proper live grains

Reminds me of a R4 program from some time ago discussing faecal transplants (yes, exactly what it says on the tin). The human biome is a fantastically complex zoo of individual creatures, the "human" part is a tiny percentage of the entire animal. IIRC they were discussing the benefit of having a "transplant" from say Usain Bolt and how the effect on the bowel might improve overall health by exchanging or upgrading key biological features - mostly bacterium I should expect.

What caught my attention was the quip they use to refer to the process of obtaining transplant "material".

Yup. It was called a "data dump". Well, you couldn't make it up...

Had a few goes at making some but after a while my grains always seemed to get tired and produce a less tasty output than they did originally. I may have not been the most attentive grain parent they required. They certainly bloomed but just seemed harder and harder to control and produce a not too tart outcome, unlike when they arrived and it was both easy and tasty. Maybe I'll try again over winter.

We do try to buy some kefir yogurt with the shopping. The Yeo Valley one is delicious.

the locals make and sell fresh sheeps cheese n yogurt....that and local honey......yum......

There are in fact doners known as " super poopers". Deemed to be fit and healthy across the board, both physically and mentally.

(I'm not one of them btw).

With our bland and shall we say sterile Western diet there have been suggestions we may eventually have to search abroad to get the required microbial mix. From underdeveloped countries etc it has been termed "brown gold".

Will probably get you lynched.Was there a couple of months back, just in time to get a soon to be outdated rugby jersey for my son. Word still used in the very Afrikaans suburbs.

Well, who doesn't enjoy a pooh story, I guess.... When mowing a field, a decade or so ago, I noticed one of the water main gang who'd been mending a leak had had a problem with a tube of sealant, must have opened a sausage to find it gone off or something, bit if blue roll next to it... of course, as I got closer, despite the same dimensions, it wasn't a cylinder of brown sikaflex at all. Such were the dimensions, it didn't cross my mind that it could have been human produce until very close. Took two of us to roll into in the hedge and carry on mowing.
