Kangoo track rods

Need to replace the inner and outer track rods on a Kangoo. I've heard the inner ones can be hard to remove because of limited access. Has anyone removed one on their own and how hard was it? Also when fitting a new one to the steering rack do you need to use locktite on the threads?
