Mate has the above car with a 1.5dci donk. Bunch of lights come on and his local friendly garage said: ABS 'bloc' will cost 500 euro + 300 euro to fit it. Car has done 250K klm.
But, they told him it was OK to drive, just the ABS would not work (??) next MOT, it would fail on the lights (they go out after a bit). Not a big prob around here, as ice and snow not common and he reckons he only notices it coming on about once a year.
Now, I assume that this is the valve chest for the ABS. Is there any cheaper route to get it fixed, like exchange parts? Don't mind looking in the UK, as France is not very 'inventive' on things like this. Could get a more recent bit from from a scrapper, but would it need extensive re-coding to match it into the electronics?
You can tell I am a bit of a dinosour about modern systems.
