kango breaker repair

anyone know what type of grease is needed for the 900 kango hammer. i was told mobilplex 47 but dont know if its rite stuff. thanks

no they were taken over by milwaukee and no longer keep spares. ive used other grease and it doesnt work properly . either works at 1st then breaks down with heat and stops knocking

I'd imagine similar stuff used on similar breakers would do.

I'd ask the local tool hire blokes. Mine have been pretty good giving advice like that and finding bits and pieces for older gear.

theres a piston inside a sliding sleeve which fits in to the barrel which works pneumaticaly to strike a pin in another sleeve to hit the chissel bit the correct stuff is needed

I see theres a service kit on ebay, which includes a tube of mobil grease of some form....

I have a 9000 series currently in for repair. £200 odd quid for new gears.

It's a great breaker though so worth it

if you are putting new grease in you should also change the seals on the piston as well they are what normaly cause the problem

i have a workshop service book some where if i can find it ill post the details

Firm I used to work for had a fitter who re-greased all the kangos with a grease that was too heavy. If you warmed them up with a propane torch they worked just fine

The problem with standard grease is exactly that though. It becomes runny and flings off else just doesn't have the intrinsic strength to cling to where it's actually needed, for long.

so far theres 3 types used in the breakers . but dont know which one does the piston and sleeve as one is for the gears its either shell tivela shell darina or mobilplex47 no one can tell me which even the manafactures dont know as there to old ive sourced some kango grease packs but it doesnt tell u what it is on the pack £14 quid enough to do 2 breakers

It is often graphite grease the same as CV grease we use when regrinding cylinders and pistons on things such as breakers and diggers ect. Good for metal on metal contact as it is so thick and the graphite acts as a good EP agent.

I remember the makitas came with some snotty brown grease in a large toothpaste-tube dispenser.
