In all honesty, probably just coincidence, although the extra load from the AC on that engine will have made the problem more noticeable.

Biggest killer of coil packs is worn/faulty plugs, or HT leads. Anything that increases the spark gap, puts more strain on the coil, making it more likely to break down internally.

I didn't adjust the spark gap on the plugs last year when I replaced them, I was told they were preset.. I thought they looked wide.. Also didn't replace leads.

A lot of plugs now never need gapping, you're likely to cause damage to them by using a feeler guage.Plugs in my car last 60k miles.

Last year I replaced the plugs and coil pack when I first got the car, l kept the original pack so swapped the coil pack back to the original and its been spot on so far..

dont buy cheap coil packs, is the answer...
