It would indeed make a nice flat table to weld on, but I know I couldnt bring myself to do it. Instead I'm pretty sure I'm likely growl at anybody who goes near it, for any reason.

Can you have it calibrated or tested for flatness ? A flat plate is brilliant for lapping cylinder heads or gasket faces on crankcases. I wish i had the room for one.

I dont know if it can be tested for that specific purpose. Someone on here should know I guess . Would lapping gradually ruin a cast iron/steel surface? Wouldnt glass or granite be better for lapping, for that reason?
