Hi,
I picked up my brand new portamig 235 on Friday (thanks Weldequip), I picked it up from Thermal arc services, the factory that makes them in York. I arrived just in time to see thme finish making it! Anyway, what a great welder, got it home, loaded the wire up, wired the plug up, stuck some gas on the back and away I went. So much better than my old SIP topmig, the arc is alot smoother, wire feed more reliable, 250 amp torch is really chunky and robust and easy to control. I think its physically smaller than the old welder, but about three times the weight!
Anyway here are some photos of the welder and my first efforts with it.
These photos show the machine itself, My first effort on some 3mm plate, my forst effort on some 0.8mm sheet, P.S. it is the back of the butt joint. and my first effort on some thick scrap, just to prove that spray transfer is possible with this machine!
