Just got a weldspares 150 mig settings

i heve just got a weldspares mig 150 for £20, cos wasnt working. I replaced the liner and seems to be ok. Can someone please tell me the lowest amp setting please. i understand that there are four settings ( 1- min, 1-max , 2-min and 2-max) , but i dont understand all the stuff on front off the welder ( i dont have the instruction manual)

i just noticed the postions are 1, 2 min then 1, 2 max

It says on the front of the machine that it's minimum setting is 40amps, settings are 40, 75, 100, 145.

I'm not 100& certain that's the power settings, it could very well be the duty cycle as the percentages are pretty much the standard ones, 100%, 40, 25 and 15.
Ought to be ok though, especially for a measly 20 quid!

so is the amp power then the duty cycle for that amp power?
i am only tying to find out the lowest amp setting, so i can use the caculator in the tutorial .

it is look at the columns one says POS. with 1. MIN 1, 2. MIN 2, 3. MAX 1, 4. MAX 2, that'd be switch position, over from that you have UoV with 22, 24, 26, 30, that'd be the volts, then I2A 40, 75, 100, 145, that'd be the amps, next over is duty cycle on those settings 100, 40, 25, 15.

can't 12 amp being min would not arc up on 12 amp

look at the info on the machine, setting 1 is switch positions min and 1 which is 40 amps 22 volts with 100% duty cycle, setting 2 is switch positions min and 2 which is 75 amps 24volts and 40% duty cycle, setting 3 is switch positions max and 1 which is 100 amps 26 volts and a duty cycle of 25%, setting 4 is switch positions max and 2 which would be 145amps 30volts with a duty cycle of 15%

actually if you read it and have looked at the info on the machine you'll see that it says I that is an I not a 1 so I2A talking about what the columns are labelled as just like on the list of specs before the amps, the volts, i said UoV.

It's a poorly laid-out data plate. The 'column' that has the torch symbol and 50Hz etc. should be to the left of the column headed 'POS'.
Then it'd be a bit clearer

Column headed I1A shows the current taken from the mains (6 to 17A); PA KVA is the power loading (largely irrelevant with the other data given, essentially multiply the mains voltage by the current being drawn e.g. 240V at 10A gives 2.4KVA); UoV means 'Output Voltage' which is the voltage present at the torch when you pull the trigger; I2A means 'Secondary current' i.e. the current 'flowing' through the weld arc; X% shows how much time (as a percentage of 10 minutes, usually) you can create that much weld current before the welder gets unhappy. So on Pos. 1 you can knock out 40A forever whereas on Pos. 4 you can weld battleships together (well OK, Escort sills) at 145A for about 90 seconds (15% of 10 mins) before (probably) the thermal trip kicks in and you have to watch a whole season of 'Friends' DVDs before it cools down again.
