I was going to add something along the lines of “isn’t this all a bit weird, and maybe some of it could be classed as creepy”.

Then I looked around at my 12 sewing machines (oldest one being 160 years old), plus my embroidery machine, and decided that pots, kettles, and black spring to mind.

Oh, and I gave away 4 machines not too long ago.

Missus got me a Bosch jigsaw for Christmas a few years back.
Mother in law comes round boxing day, asks wife what she got me, “a jigsaw,it's over there",

At least ‘officially’ I use 6 of them, my friend’s collection over in Fife equals mine, but she seldom if ever uses them to sew.

You sit and stare at its beauty, and wonderment.

There are people out there who collect sewing machines, with the same enthusiasm some folk collect old vices/vises, and woe betide anyone who picks up a machine by putting a hand under its neck. Touching the gilding with bare hands, or turning the hand wheel backwards, can cause instant loud tutting, and possibly a serious look of disgruntlement.
