Just brought CIG Transmig 210, need some advice

I just brought a transmig 210 off ebay, I have never welded before in my life apart from a couple days of playing with a stick welder.

Now I got it because I want to create engine mounts, exhaust systems
and intercooler piping for my project cars.

Now im guessing engine mounts would be mild steel and exhaust and intercooler piping will be stainless.

The wire that is in there is Ultramag S6 (0.9mm) Can I use this for both mild and stainless or do I need a different wire?

Now comes gas, can I use one type of gas to weld stainless and mild, or will I have to get two gas bottles?

It also has a dwell time and spot time dial and a 3 way switch with (Spot, continuous and stitch) What are these used for?

I know about these, this is a timing system. it's worth trying it without wire to get to know how it works first but basically.
Spot, pull trigger and it will weld for the pre-set time and stop until you pull the trigger again.
Stitch, pull trigger and it will weld for time set, then pause for the the dwell time you set, then weld again, it will keep doing this until you pull the trigger again.
Continuous, either, pull trigger and it will weld until you pull the trigger again or normal use. Mine has 4 settings which include both of the last options.
As for gas, I know with stainless you need argon and stainless wire, and 0.9 is too heavy for exhausts unless they are real thick, I built an exhaust system last year and used 0.6 wire. I'm sure others will have further advice as I'm no expert

You might find a manual here for your machine but CIG manuals/models can be different. I have a CIG/BOC 180 amp tig set, I contacted BOC quoted the model/serial no. and they sent me a copy F.O.C.

I've never found a site listing CIG machine manuals.

Can I get an argon/co2 mix of gas, this way I can use it for both stainless and mild.
This way I can use the same gas and only have to swap the wire around?

go straight c02 ya just need ta get a adapter 4 ya regulater and c02 will keep ya stainless cooler with less distortion just ya nomal solid mig wire weld wont turn out as nice

That's poor advice. Stainless doesn't like excessive carbon and will become brittle if welded with CO2. I didn't follow the rest of the post.

Many of us use Argoshield Light on Stainless (only 5% CO2) with stainless wire. People doing it professionally might use a stainless mix.
