This is mainly for the majority of us who regularly find them selves in under cars trying to weld a patch and looking desperately for a place to hang a torch from to see where/what they are welding...

Some kind of contraption which ables you to mount LED's around the MIG shroud directing light towards whats to be welded....


That came to mind when I was struggling to see what I was welding/my progress when lying upside down underneath a motorbike under an alcove out of the rain whilst my back was straddling the back door step and the wet ground whilst head was in a bucket.. Don't ask!

Something to make a job easier to do is worth the trouble in doing?

If the the heat didn't destroy them they would get obscured with spatter.

That wouldn't do for me for getting in tight gaps that would only get in my way. Hope it help the fella who was having touble seeing though

When I was young, long time ago, and DIY learning to stick weld I used to have a couple of old scrap car sealed beam headlights running off an old car battery pointing to the workpiece. They gave just enough light for me to be able to see where the arc was going to be struck even through the (hand) shield. I don't know if the old tungsten fillament headlights gave light out at different frequency to halogen or LED's but never had a problem with them affecting the viewing of the arc etc.

What about some sort of head torch on your welding mask pointing to where your looking?

I thought this too, easier to mount a headtorch on your mask, you could even have replaceable lens covers for when it gets plattered.

My son bought me a thing called a mig-light for Crimbo, it is an LED light that fits on the torch. Not tried it yet, but it comes highly recommended by someone on the Land Rover forum apparently. Might just be a hint that his Landy's knackered though. It runs on a AA battery & comes with 3 spare lenses. I'll let you know how good it is when I use it.

Thinking of when I have beginners in for sculpture classes at £1.50 that has to be worth a punt.
