been there... also I have tape measure dyslexia at least twice a year, sometimes it's on something important

I normally blame the cheap chinese tape measure….but it normally improves if I put my glasses on!

Which sheets last best, painted or plastisol or what ever its called?

Don't you galvanise them? A shed building neighbour here sends all the steels to Hereford for galv. Unless he's desperate for the work and will do the painting himself it's cheaper to galv them than genuinely cover his time for painting them even with a big spray setup.

I think it’s a mix of very few people have the money for a galvanised shed now, I have just priced a 60x40x14 shed for galv and it was £2500 more where as price to paint is £600 (£200 in paint and £400 in 2 days labour for the YTS boy to paint)

And! I think a lot of the galvanised sheds yiu see are sold by the big firms like robinsons, warings, Murray ext that MUST have deals with galv plants to but shreds thru at lesser rates because the price difference off them beween gal and not galv on a 40x45 was only £700

Out best galv prices now are £850 PT Plus vat plus £120 carriage

Plastisol, but you need to get cut edge protection really to get best life out of them or the rust creeps in,
Painted are a bit cheeped but I don’t see the point.
If price is the killer than your better off using 0.5 mm sheets (intended for side sheets) rather than the 0.7 they do help price a bit it just means no fat lads on the roof to fit them they buckle the corrugating

I dunno, we only ever use plastisol.

I made a mistake and fitted .5mm sheets to a roof with wide spaced purlins... was absolutely garbage. Had to replace them all with 0.7mm. Was glad it was only my bosses money I'd wasted.

Out if Intrest if you ever need sheets i know a man fairly local to you, I used to used steadmans at caldbeck but they are the most hard to use and deal with company known to man kind

I hope you don't mind a question? How much more expensive are the insulated panels than normal ones? I'm needing to build a couple of domestic-sized sheds here and am torn between something like Yorkshire Boarding with plain sheets over the top or just use the insulated ones directly onto the frame. Not too bothered about the temperature gains, it's all about keeping the condensation out.

What do you normally space your purlins out at? Doing a 30 x 20 in the new year with 0.5 roof was thinking 4 foot six max ?

54 inches.
200mm down from the apex to the first purlin tab then 1375mm from their.

The last one before the even beam is normally whatever it lands at unless it looks silly then I may spread them all out evenly.

But 1375 is about the right spacing for tins and fibre cements. I have a jig made up it’s 5 m long and sits on a beam then holds the tabs in the right place for tacking so that’s what I use 9/10 times

yeah 4ft6 is good, on the building we did the 0.5mm sheets on we spaced the purlins 4ft11... still strong enough for loadings etc, just too wide a spacing for the thin sheets. It worked ok with 0.7 sheets, but would still space them 4ft6 next time.
