think they tried that with trains, called a Diesel electric.......may as well go the whole hog and fit a deltic engine into the boot.....might be a tight fit thoughJump packs for EV's? It's all getting bit silly now isn't it.
They'd be better having a small petrol generator conveniently hidden in the boot or even under the bonnet to power the car...

There was a Nissan Leaf that packed up in a very narrow steep hill near us. This was on a Friday evening, the breakdown service turned up & couldn’t shift it as everything had locked up.
Has anybody actually made a reverse hybrid.
Small ultra efficient engine to generate power and charge and a conventional EV drive chain
See plenty with the engine doing the driving.
I think that’s the point - it locked itself in position.A HiLux and a chain would've been quicker!
The Leaf broke down on about 1 in 5 slope, only a car width as well, I think they were stuffed all ways.It happens and it's a pain. My van has full-lift capability so in many cases i can move stuff like that. Otherwise it goes on a truck with skates or by hiab. Many don't have a bypass to engage neutral though.
A 1k range doesn't sound bad to me.![]()

Even better, a hole in the floor for your feet, it worked for Fred FlintstoneHave a little shaft coming out the side of the centre console, and a pair of pedals in the boot. Slide them on, engage the drive dog and pedal away.![]()

An amendment. Big truck and gennie. Food wagon on the back. Busy road LaybyI am beginning to see a business opportunity here with nothing more than a transit van and a whopping generator in the back..call out emergency charging.
Fancy a partnership?...you supply the van and genny and i will take care of the bread and baconAn amendment. Big truck and gennie. Food wagon on the back. Busy road Layby
While you've got em parked up charging you can take em again for the food.
Haven't looked on this Range Rover but my old one had in the user manual you could pull a cable in the boot to disengage the handbrake manually and then there was another cable behind the centre console trim panel that would release the autobox and put it in neutral.to be fair I’m not sure how easy it would be to move any of the modern automatics (my Volvo has a button for park No gear selector so to speak) I presume if it went proper flat it would need dragging or all the wheels lifting off the ground
looks like the posts above beat me to it. To clarify I’m talking non EVs here !
