Joining damp proof membrane

I've got a task to make some bags out of damp proof membrane. I've just tried to sew them together on my 1905 Singer machine and it works but I'd also like to add some adhesive to reinforce the joint. Any suggestions as to what might work? It is all to make some waterproof bags for 1950s car tools like jacks and starting handles. I believe the originals would have been heat sealed together but I can't do that so maybe a flexible glue or double sided tape?

I'd use either impact adhesive, or sikaflex [1]

but, surely damp proof membrane is joined on site, for some applications? so there must be a purpose-made adhesive available?

a quick Google suggests DPM is polythene, andresearchgate came up as a reference for joining it

Joints are typically just taped on building applications.

I think from a practical point of view a waterproof dry bag as used for water sports/outdoors would be best. Examples linked below.

I was looking to do the same, to make sealed bags to put cleaned parts in.
I decided welding/heat sealing was the way to go. The heat sealing making bags videos on
youtube looked good. One was using a length of heated nichrome wire fastened to a 2x4.

I've sent a few emails and have asked for some samples so there might be a manufacturer out there (other than China/India) who could make them. They really need to replicate the originals.

Not far off. The one I want to do is a bit taller but otherwise pretty close.
