I was under the floor today looking at the wiring going to the kitchen and spotted this join in the ring main. Its choc block in the case, does that meet current regs?
Kitchen fitters?no whoever has done it hasnt used the cable clamps or screwed the lid down properly and should use wago or crimped conectors in it if it isnt accessible
and even so called registered electriciansKitchen fitters?
Kitchen fitters?
i said use wagos or you could use crimped conectors not screw type conectorsUmm. Nope
Not guilty.
Me and my Sparx did the job properly last week.
Didn't know you had to crimp/wago for inaccessible connections.
u can if you screw it to the joist and clip cables going in to it and it is accessibleHaha. there's no a single cable clip under the floor. The entire house was "rewired" 8 years ago, looks like a crap job.
Is it acceptable to replace with one of these as I have a few, 30 amp junction box.

What's the reason for the coloured heatshrink over the crimps, which I assume are heatshrink crimps, given the heatshrink oversheath? I get the change in wiring colours, if the splice were ever to be replaced, surely the core colours, not the colour of the crimps would be relevant.
