I see this from the other side, spend ages pricing and working it out, customer expecting to pay £1500 but don't get back to you when its a weeks work and £5k

I agree there are two sides but if they won't even call back, how do they know? Of the two who did call back, they didn't ask my budget, they just said no. If it wasn't for British Gas, I would have no heating.

I suppose some don't want to do the work, back boiler conversion is a big job these days

I used to train them and other EEs.......to be honest those I met were no more workaholic than the British........there first question was "whats the minimum wage" that was followed by some calculations and a shocked look.......9 out of 10 never finished the courses.......I assume they were off to Lincolnshire picking fruit and veg

picking veg is hard graft and these guys aren’t here for the short term. A lot don’t seem inclined to settle, merely get as much money to take home as they can then head off set up for a house and a business back home.

Can’t say I blame them. If I was in that boat I would prefer a few seasons picking and earn twice minimum wage and some, then move on rather than tread water on minimum wage.

ive seen both sides of it

owner sucks it in as its too dear for them or even trys to get the price much lower than what the jobs pay for

then ive seen cheap labour teams go in and do the job next minute ive found out theyve made a mess sort of like on here and then they want me to go in and sort it out

ive even had the cheap cheap cheap from the owners as i cant afford it as ive been ripped off by the last guys these people annoy me the most id like to rip there heads off and tell them really bluntly you went cheap what do you expect ...

ive had a few jobs where there interfering friends are all mouth some have been told to go away some have annoyed me enough for me to turn around and say why havent you done it seen as your all mouth
some have annoyed me enough ive walked off the job explaining to the mrs as i go to get the husband to contact me and we will have a talk then or whoever is paying the bill

It certainly is hard graft......Ive done it........but because its hard it has to be short term.......I dont blame them either if they can save up quickly and start a new and better life back home.........However, I dont really get all this "work ethic" ********.........Yes they work hard but no harder than the British....the employees like them because they are cheap....even on the same wage they claw it back by charging rent for the caravan........that Jam place in Essex was even charging them to come here....
