The kids around here are allowed to drive 30kph mopeds at 14 yrs or so. Natch, they mod them.Big bore kits, take out the carb restricter plates etc. From time to time the fuzz set up rolling roads in front of the schools and test the bikes. Did this recently, one kid was keen to help, so they tested his bike first. DUH! 90kph on the rig. Another one did 110kph. Interestingly it was stripped to the minimum. The brakes were mostly left out to get the weight down....

It's just the same around here, restricted to 30MPH many of my mates' bikes will do at least double that!

My lad has had a CPI SM50 since last Nov. really nice looking supermoto type bike, speedo says 54mph, my sat nav states 41mph. Something's never change

Looks like you need to get your satnav re-calibrated?

Wouldn't make much difference, I've been riding for long enough to know what 40mph is without a speedo to help me

Dredging my memory a bit... When Lotus first built the original Elan, they naturally gave the press 'good' ones to try out. Slightly embarrassing, when the later big valve production versions weren't a lot quicker on test. AND, the had the speedos a bit over reading as normal.

Being on an SS50 from 16 to 17 was one of the most memorable years of my life on the road. The first 10 days were the most painful with 49cc until I discovered the mega power C70 head and barrel! Offroad use only of course.....

Screaming the nads off it in 4th gear two up alongside AP50's then changing into 5th and pulling away was so much fun. Just a little slower than the highly tuned Fantic on top speed though.

No performance parts back in those days for the SS50 so you had to make your own!

A friend of mine had a Fizzie that blew up so he fitted a YB100 motor in it. It made it a lot better

That pic of the SS50 reminds me of pulling up along side them at the traffic lights, then just before the lights change, reach over and take the ignition key out, that's what mates are for

#1. new gloves helaspor ones, not bad, £38 delivered!
#2. you might remember that the rear mudguard was fubared so i cleanned up an old honda CG125 panel and made the fibreglass bit to stick in and then ill file and sand it till it fits and give it all a skim of filler.

Nah theyy're spotlights H3 bulb with an HID kit in, the one that came with it was a sealed beam type affair and the dip beam was Knackered

You might have problems getting it through an MOT, they've tightened up on HID conversions this year
