Jimny EGR

My 2005 VVT Jimny threw up an engine light yesterday after a short run.
Reader shows 403 something to do with the EGR. Clearing it lasted all of a few seconds.
Research shows possibly valve/solenoid maybe wiring.

Any ways of testing as removal looks to be a right pain in the harris given it's location?

Am I going to do damage by keeping on using it? Seems just to be emissions related but ....

EGR Delete, always imo.

Well. Having had a few hiccups along the way like dropped bolts that don't appear on the floor and the most awkward one cross threading.
I managed to remove the old EGR. Cleaned it, still an engine light when refitted.
Found a reference re testing it. It failed.

Bought a replacement, took a chance on a £60 Chinese one rather than a £400 named brand.
Refitted and no engine light.

Fingers crossed it will last.
