Jigsaw?

My old black and decker jigsaw started packing up today, gears inside gone and not worth repairing so getting a new one. My conundrum is do I buy a milwaukee m12 cordless to use (occcasionally) at work and bring home my corded bosch one for again occasional home use, or do I buy the cheaper erbauer corded for home use?
I don't know much about erbauer apart from the drills that I bought which weren't very good.
I already have milwaukee m12 drill and impact driver with batteries and charger.

I am quite happy with the aldi 18v and lidl 12v, just dont try to cut a 3mm steel propane tank with them

As with any tool but more 12v, needs a 4ah battery or bigger for any proper work

Definitely cordless, IMHO, as the others have said.

Plus, if you're getting a 12V one, it'll likely be smaller & lighter, so easier to work with, for most things.

Thanks for the replies.I've got a couple of lidl cordless drills and wish I'd never bothered bboth got really sloppy chucks that wobble all over the place so I 'd prefer a decent brand. Already have the bsosch coreded which I do like. I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the milwaukee, it gets great reviews and the drill and driver I already have work a treat.It will only get occasional use probably cutting 3mm mdf mainly.

I got a M18 Milwaukee and it's so much easier to just grab it out the box and cut, normally outside to save cleaning up !

Cordless!! I had the dewalt cordless and when I changed to Milwaukee I couldn’t afford to replace everything so got a corded one just to get by. What an absolute pain in the hole after years of a cordless one!! Can’t wait till I can replace it.

I have the M18 Milwaukee jigsaw and can't fault it. I have the body grip version similar to the M12 you linked to and its much more natural to guide than the D handle type like the Erbauer. The M12 tools I have all been impressive so would imagine the jigsaw to be just as good.

In the end I went for the milwaukee, not cheap at £120 but if I bought a different cordless system I would need to buy batteries and a charger so would have ended up costing me more.Certainly made the right choice, its a lovely bit of kit and great to use with no cord to get in the way.It feels quality with a nice weight and is powerful enough for me.
Now I've got my eye on the milwaukee 3/8 impact wrench.

Funnily enough, I ended up losing to that temptation, on the Bosch front. Finding decent ⅜" impact sockets seems a harder task than acquiring the wrench.

I've been beating on some Neilsen ones for quite some time now!
10mm - 19mm, Short & Deep sockets cost me £20. That was over 4 years ago now

I went the M12 sub compact impact wrench in 1/2inch. I had originally wanted the 3/8 but depth of the socket wasn’t that much less than 1/2 inch ones and wouldn’t use anything less than 10mm anyway.
Great tool, my most used power tool and does 90% of the work with the big M18 only coming out for the big stuff. They do a M18 sub compact now but with the bigger battery it’s less useful than the M12 and both have the same torque output.

Like you, I find it nicer to use than the standard style of jigsaw.

While I like that style I prefer a traditional for my needs. When your using down cutters they're hard to hold the nose down on.

I cant justify buying a cordless one yet. The Bosch corded one i bought new in 1983 is still going, speed control doesnt work very well but when i think of the miles its cut i will let it off!

While I like that style I prefer a traditional for my needs. When your using down cutters they're hard to hold the nose down on.

I tend to do less heavy duty work now, hence the size, weight etc. all appeal to me. I still have all my 18V gear just incase though.

These are a lot easier to hold when cutting from underneath too.

No worries on the socket front. I've got a set of snap on ones that are virtually unused as I've got a 3/8 snap on air gun which I don't use much as I don't do much mechanics anymore and don't have an airline hanging about.Might sell the snap on one to fund the milwaukee one.

I am using an impact driver with a cheapfix 3/8" adapter.
It will break an 8MM bolt, quite surprised the 1/4" hex holds up.
