Found my pic of the 8mm caliper bolts old and new, old one obviously on left across flats 12.27 mm -----new one 13mm

Yeah, see how the washer part has flats where the new is round, all I had as a mechanic that were like that were slack on a 13mm. Still got some in my toolbox I kept and used the old ones with new loctite.

they are spline but it's the same diffrence, clean them out and good tool come out easy,

the nightmare it torx head bolts, espectaly ones in tight spaces with heads that are made of cheese. BGA cylinder head bolts are usally the cause of most swearing

I think torx are pretty good in general as others have said they don't cam out like hex bit heads can do.

Goood thing is metric bi hex spanners fit male headed torx for confined limited movement, to give twelfth turn Coz torx spanners only move one sixth

Anything BGA is normally hopeless. I once tried one of their timing chain kits for a bmw mini and unbelievably they [BGA] actually managed to make a poorer quality tensioner than the original bmw item.
I'm at the stage where I only fit certain brand aftermarket parts, and only in certain applications, everything else is dealer sourced oe stuff.

BGA can quickly make a relativly simpel DIY job more expensive than the dealership, made the unfortunate mistake of useing there headgaskets and bolts on a few enignes. and have since had to do every one of them again

BGA gasket/bolts with a freshly skimmed head on the track car didn't make 1000 miles and most of those were gentel miles. payen gasket and S/H150k mile oe bolts have been happily handeling regular thrashings and giggeling at 100 hp dose of happy gas. and the was just duffed on in a carpark
