Got a couple of rusty patches on my truck, where the tub liner has rubbed on the corners. Thought I would tidy it up over the holidays. Never used any of the jenolite products before, they read like they do a good job. Plus I'm going to halfords on Saturday andd they stock them. Any opinions or alternatives.

Jelonite is phosphoric acid based, when applied to rust it converts iron oxide, into the more stable iron phosphate, and stops the rusting process, it can then be primed, and painted over, its a good product.

if its a rub mark, it may be just dry surface rust. If so, the better option is to rub it back to bare metal, prime and paint. If however it is actually wet and the paint has bubbled, Jenolite or Krust will help to check it back.

Bilt Hamber deox gel is really good at getting rid of rust that you can access. The rust converters are good for areas that you can"t access like chassis rails etc.

Another vote for Deox Gel, or Deox C if you are soaking components. I would grind back to bare metal then use Deox C to get out the pitted rust. Only problem is that it isn't available on the high street and if you only want a small amount it's quite expensive once you factor postage.

i like the bilt hamber stuff....go with something that removes the rust rather than a converter which only seem to turn the surface black

Bilt hamber deox gel I have used on my beetle resto a few times with good results , once applied on rust cover over with cling film as it will stay moist for a longer period ..

Keeping it moist for longer, is that to allow the reaction more time and do a better job?

Yes the reaction time last a lot longer ..
