A neighbour has a 2-ton trolley jack, one of those in the plastic case for 'home mechanic-ing', branded as JCB. It has started to leak fluid which would indicate a seal/overhaul kit is in order. He's tried new 'O' rings but I suspect he's not got the exact right size so it holds pressure for a while then goes down slowly under load - probably not the right rings [should be Viton, right?]. I'm also not sure of the condition of the cylinder bore.....nor do I want to - I think he's been refilling it with engine oil too .
But, parts for it are no longer available afaik, it being so old. He says JCB can't help even with info, but to me it looks like one of these generic ones by Sealey, Draper et al so a kit would be available. It certainly looks like this CLICK HERE.
Before I go and order an overhaul kit [say...Sealey] on his behalf [he's not got the interweb] I thought I'd check to see if any of the Collective knew for sure if the kits are common to these jacks, as I suspect.
I know they're not expensive but if it can be overhauled/made safe for a few ££s then....
