Iwata 2020 regulator

Hello

Just got an Iwata 2020 Airfed mask to spray to 2K PU however when testing the mask I am slightly confused around the regulator and the guide/manual doesnt seem to say much. I turn the regulator up and down but it doesnt appear to change the flow in the mask or set the whistle off. Was just wondering if any one had the same mask and know if turning down the regulator should stop air or reduce to the mask?

If the regulator doesn't change the airflow it's not working. Reducing pressure with the knob should set the whistle off when pressure is too low.
Are you running the mask from a different compressor to the spray gun - they can demand a lot of air

Was just running the mask without the spray gun. I have to admit was just using a small pancake compress until proper one comes next week that has higher CFM

I was still expecting something to occur really when turning the dial even if the CFM from my compressor was not high enough

What CFM do you think you have?
Are you getting a 3 stage filter unit too for breathable air?

Yes got 3 stage filters with carbon. Buying an 18cfm compressor and not using hvlp caps just RP so would be around 10cfm on the gun.

Current compressor was just testing on is quite small at 2cfm

At 2 cfm I wouldn't expect a lot to happen - those masks need around 5cfm......there's a low pressure whistle if pressure falls - but if it's only 2 to start with, it may not even activate

Thanks for your help. It did activate when I unplugged the hose to the mask. Take your point it's difficult that to know with lower CFM than required.

I think the Iwata mask regulators are non adjustable to stop you turning it down. Mine certainly is.

I though same as jo1010 from watching video where whistle is meant to go off when your turn down the regulator on the belt. I reckon mine might be broken but without a proper compressor I don't know

Mine is non adjustable . the regulator knob just spins, not connected .
It's never whistled (that my abused lug holes have ever detected anyway), it has a visual ball in a tube indicator.
If I want to conserve air, when spraying less toxic paints, I drop the pressure with another regulator upstream of the mask regulator .
