Yep, Micortig has long been a prime contender. But I find the interface a bit hidden down in menu systems - and whenever I talk to dealers they don't come across too friendly or that helpful. (With exception of Matt from Lorch on this site) Feel like they don't have sales people, but maybe young blokes who have better things to be doing than talking to strangers about Lorch welders. On the phone, I get one word answers and a bit of sighing and huffing. Email, well the last few I've sent have been ignored, or are in their Junk folder. Who knows?Actually I've just seen the price of the Fronius so I retract my statement. Buy a Lorch Micortig 200 controlpro instead, it's superior to either of those machines in just about every way
Or see what you can haggle robbie260 down to for his micortig and battery setup
If thats what they are like when your trying to give them money ,, imagine what the call would be like if you had a problem.Yep, Micortig has long been a prime contender. Know what you mean wasn’t exactly bowled over by the sales guys I bought my micor tig from. It’s an awesome peice of kit though well worth putting up with the rather diss interested rep for. And of course @matt1978 is a fantastic guy and very helpful. The basic is fine ounce it’s all setup you never have to think about it again. But ounce you have the hang of it you can fly through the adjustments.Yep, Micortig has long been a prime contender. The control pro layout puts more stuff on the front and the big display makes it easy to see what you are adjusting.Yep, Micortig has long been a prime contender. With repair bills like that you could just buy cheaper machines and throw away when they fail. When you say some shops have bad service, bear in mind one of my biggest local welding shops has had our big red £7k TIG set since October now and attempted to charge us £1500 for hire of a machine while they "repair" ours... which is just 4 years old. Cost £400 already for one board, and another £700 for a second board. Could have bought another machine by now.
I've been that appalled at their service that I won't be dealing with them again for welders.
What I’d doWith repair bills like that you could just buy cheaper machines and throw away when they fail.
I know. I got mad at them after they sent the 2nd hire bill and told them if they sent any others, we'd settle our account and I'd take the machine elsewhere for repair. With repair bills like that you could just buy cheaper machines and throw away when they fail.
Thomas Proctor used to repair welding kit, before they became Lloyd andJones, not sure if they still do.I know. I got mad at them after they sent the 2nd hire bill and told them if they sent any others, we'd settle our account and I'd take the machine elsewhere for repair.
...which is what I'll be doing next time anyway, Express can repair Lincolns and they didn't charge me for a "courtesy welder" when my HT was in for service.
We can afford nice machines so that's what we buy.
I had my old Esab in at Proctors years back but AFAIK they don't do welder repair any more.Thomas Proctor used to repair welding kit, before they became Lloyd andJones, not sure if they still do.
Are you talking of the Lincoln and Jassic supplier near you who also sells Milwaukee and Makitta to name a few
