Airbus have in the past sailed wings down the River Dee from the Broughton facility. seems more common to fly them out now. (How they got from Broughton to the River is beyond me though.

they have a special back road from the airfield to the canal...i was working in Chester today and 2 baluga,s took off fully loaded with the engines screaming to gain altitude...LOL

yeah, seen that in the flesh coming up the main channel of the Dee while sat on Taylors Gutter (Corus land) enormous great big parts

It takes a week to go from Burnley / Blackburn area all the way to Liverpool by barge but why do we not just set off earlier

Blackburn to top lock in Wigan is a leisurely short day. Press on and start earlier (i.e. before 10AM) in Blackburn and you should easily be at the bottom lock at the end of that day instead. From there moving with a purpose Liverpool docks is under 2 days. I reckon in summer taking advantage of the longer daylight hours you could do it in 2.5 days with a crew of two people.

And I can do it in about an hour in the car, less if I take the Scooby and set off from here at 4 am! heck the pubs are there for a purpose

Just had a look on google earth and you can see quite clearly the route they take down to the river.

Took that a few months ago while there on a job.
