I smoke Drum - can't keep damp GV alight... £3 in 2017 is a good price for a named brand.

Think I paid £3.30 for 50g for Drum at about the same time. Not sure of price - I was more worried if I could carry it all - not what it cost - it was so cheap.

I've only been to Italy once for a short trip; I had Italian hosts so my experience my have been different than travelling without Italian speakers. I was in Milan and found everyone to be great, though I was only there for a few days.

dunno it never fell . I just launched it with me foot was at Whitby one day dining outside of pub and the seagulls were coming down on peoples tables nicking grub people just let them one came down on our table and I gave it a good backhander and swiped it on the floor needless to say it never got anything and hopped off

France is where you get problems if you are English - some of the problems I have had in the south of France have been bad.

a young couple i worked with booked a mucky weekend in Venice.
Talking about it every day for about a month before they went.

last day before tbeir flight, it was absolutely p-ing it down.

this is the same lass who i told that if she said "tangerine" over and over again she would eventually start to say "orange".

all day. all day i heard her repeating it under her breath.

Hi, IIRC they had a cull of the more aggressive ringleaders because they were attacking the tourists unprovoked, sort of getting their retaliation in first. There was a programme on the TV showing a medical assessment of the primates physique, in particularly the mouthful of fearsome teeth.

Pisa was not too bad.
But disappointing as a place.

We have done it. Florence is one place I want to see.


Gibraltar has become a cruise ship stop off as well. But people there understand the English.

I was in Italy on my bike a couple of weeks ago. Rode over the Furka, Umbrail and Stelvio passes, then rode a bit more, into Italy, stayed a couple of nights in my tent, then headed back over to France via what is possibly the best road I’ve ever ridden on, SP24, then SS25, then D1006 after I crossed into France.

France is where you get problems if you are English - some of the problems I have had in the south of France have been bad.

I have never had a single problem in the south of France, nor anywhere else in rural France to be fair. Most people are lovely and appreciate you at least trying to speak some French. I think it is like any country with City dwellers being the typical arrogant, rude and unhelpful morons whereas the country folk are generally salt of the earth.

Paris is just like London for "problems" possibly more so now. My father got hassled bythe Police for reasons we were never able to comprehend a few years ago.

The only issue I have ever had was in Rennes in the DIY store. I wanted something I couldn't find so asked a lad stacking upper shelves if he could spare a minute to help. I asked in perfectly reasonable French and got the sneering reply.. "Ay do't speek Eengleesh". Nobody asked him to, he was just being a Richard.

Last experience of Italy was in Livorno when we had to take the young un to dentist , then A & E. On the whole, I found the vast majority of Italians we came across as loud, shouty and downright rude. There were of course exceptions , and those people were very friendly. Vowed not to bother returning , but Venice is on cruise itinerary, and it’s on the bucket list anyway. As was Pisa, but missed that due to the above

You most have been unlucky most of the Italians we met were friendly, polite & generally helpful but it would appear those that aren’t all tend to live in Venice.
Latest news (today) is the Italian government has banned cruise ships from their present moorings & are relocating to further outside the lagoon.

Few years ago, working in Malta. Our host was heard to say.
Must be Thursday, such a ship has arrived.

He was saying you could almost set your watch when certain ships would arrive.
