It arrived!

So today it arrived.
I never noticed any delivery instructions box to fill in, had I done I would have mentioned that I live down a narrow lane. So after a knock on the door from the driver I took my truck down to the lorry to collect it.



MrsG helped lift it to the ground where assembly was done, so it could be rolled into it's new home.



TBH one of the reasons I went for the 200 over the 180 was the extra switch. That empty hole in the front panel would have bugged me.
Anyway once into it's new home I realised my mistake. I knew it was going to stick out based on the measurements ... however I'd not taken the extra 8-10 inches of the torch connection into account. I can see me having to come up with something to save some cracked shins or broken torch! Despite the mess I can usually walk to the tool cabinet...



Oh and the first modification, some rubber buffers to stop the lid clanging down.



I did turn it on to see that it lit up and made a noise. Check

Hope to have a play with it soon, but I desperately need to tidy up some more, and sort out my lighting. One of my LED panels packed up today.

If you fit two flat washers on each side of the lid "hinge" bolts one either side of the lid and nylocks you can tighten them so lid is stiff to open and close and will hold halfway up if you want , other advice is put rubber mat on gas stand And on top of lid otherwise it gets scratched to heck as when using its just a usefull shelf. Enjoy!

If it came in polystyrene (mine did), you might want to take the pannels off and vac the polystyrene bits out.

Still not used it but I have fixed my garage lights (LED driver failed), and completed modification number two.
Dawned on me that I really don't need to have the bottle mounted on the back. With the length of gas hose, power lead and torch I can reach nearly anywhere in the garage anyway, and it is unlikely to be going anywhere else.
So I undid all the assembly from yesterday and unbolted the rear platform and wheels. Then using some castors from a roll cab I drilled them to fit the mounting holes, and an extra hole to clear another bolt head underneath the welder.

I made sure to have a nose down attitude to stop the front end lifting at speed, and a little toe out for stability

This means it can now fit under the bench (yes I've lost my day old shelf I made) either nose out with much less protrusion, or sideways, completely out of the way.
Just need to make a stand for the gas bottle to lift it up a bit, retain it to the wall, and possibly some sort of cover to stop the regulator being clouted.

It was just wrapped in industrial clingfilm, no polystyrene. Might be worth a look anyway.

Well after a false start re the gas hose fitting I finally got to try it this afternoon. Made a bracket to hold the gas bottle in place with a ubiquitous chain.
The machine is much better than my abilities, but I'll blame the bad welds on not having got used to the settings yet. Be nice if there were a few more instructions Oxford ...

Just for fun I also turned it up full whack and ran a few beads on some thick plate. Happy to say my mcb did not trip even though it's only a B type. I have a C type on the way regardless.
