So the van 'tidy up' has turned into a bigger project that I had hoped, though I probably should have predicted that!
So 3 'quick' questions for you guys/girls.
1) - I plan on painting properly at the end of the project, what should I do about protecting the bare metal until I get to this point?... Will a couple of coats of etch primer do?
2) - using a wire brush on an angle grinder I have been able to clean up several areas that have just mild pitting. It is however difficult to get the brush down into the pits to be completely sure that all of the rust is out. What is the best way on making sure that the rust is 'neutralised'. I don't want to go to all this trouble only to have it come back through. My science brain says just paint it, and then you have isolated it from oxygen... is this the case?...
3) For rust that is non structural, is there a way of isolating it so it no longer spreads without having to cut it out?
Thanks, sorry if they sound like stupid questions, the last time I did stuff like this was 2 decades ago and I dont think I was very good at it at the time!
Thanks
James
