Is tig stronger than mig?

the pub gas I tried did not float my boat-I think the welds were probably sound-but the argon mix I have seems loads nicer and seems to work out cheaper-but this is France of course

I haven't welded with "pub Gas" but when I first started everyone used co2 with the MIG, you get a little more heat / penetration with it though argon mix quickly became the thing and few remember the differences or perhaps have ever experienced it. Once we put argoshield on I think we only saw the plus side of the new gas, shame really one should never forget the old ways because sometimes they are actually the best choice

We talking about CO2 black bottle with white siphon line bottom, to top of bottle, with heater attached at top?

you don't want the CO2 with the line down the side, you want the plain vapour draw one.

Unless you turn it upside down so it draws gas.

Nothing wrong with a weld done with CO2, all MIG was done that way until they got clever with Argon/CO2 mixes.

I have laid endless kilos of 0.6mm A18 MIG in pure CO2 run thru a heater. We still have one MIG set in our workshop running pure CO2. We also only use Argoshield universal.

I have never tried Argoshield light... (What a sheltered life I have had!)

Regarding the tube, I am going to internally and externally sleeve the cut and joined parts. Just need to watch a few tutorials on plug welding.

Don't sleeve it inside and out, just inside. Use tube with the same wall thickness as the original and chamfer the outside ends of the inner tube.
