Hello

I bought a used Clarke 130en mig welder, gas/gas less, at the moment it has flux core wire, but a bottle of argon is connected to, I wanted to know if this is the right welder for me, the uses I will mostly be doing is car body repairs and the odd exhaust bracket, so I want to know if this is the correct welder for my uses and if so what's the best set up for it to be used with what I want to use it for, thanks guys

I'm a novice, but I would think that should be fine. I have the 151EN and it's pretty good for the money.

The general consensus is to get a regulator and use large gas bottles, as it's far more cost effective. The little bottles only last a few minutes generally. You can use CO2, or an argon mix like BOC Argoshield.

Generally you'll want to use the lowest power setting for car panels, but someone with more experience will give you pointers on stuff like power, wire speed, and techniques

the Clarke should do you well providing you do it some justice and get some solid ms wire and a 9l bottle of ar mix gas those disposables last about as long a sneeze

Lol will do so for a better weld and as I'm new what gas will you guys recommend, il mostly be doing cars, another thing is I got some fluxcore wire what is this good for and how would i use this, thanks for the help guys

for thin stuff 5% co2 in argon is good. Better than plain co2, and you cant use pure argon.
flux core is good for welding outside or when you have run out of gas on a Sunday. Its not as good as proper mig wire but will do the job if needed

I see so pure argon is no good for my car panels, and mix is better, so with fluxcore is that only used outside, and I take it the gas weld is better as it cools and stick to the metal better, correct if I'm wrong, sorry to sound inexperienced it's my first welder and first time I ever welded so all this is new to me thanks guys

pure argon wont work at all in mig. Co2 will work well but argon mix is reccomended for thin stuf, or one of the many brands such as argoshield. Gasless can be used indoors but the welds don't look as neat, i have found they are more prone to porosity,uch more spatter, harder to clean up and harder to use. The fusion of the metal will essentially come down to the machines power and your technique.

as for the weld 'sticking to the metal better', you dint want it to stick to the metal, you want to melt it and the metal together uniformly so it all becomes one piece
