Seeing I dug the floor out, then it flooded, then dryed out and the previous one shows no cracks, no movement, my gut instinct is it's holding up the now, non existent floor.
And I agree with all of you obviously..
If I've a new thread tomorrow, 'oh poo, this happened', well you'll know...

Aye. Never throw them in the skip. Have a box full of slate for that reasongood old slate still used today to stem up beams and lintels and brickwork nothing better.
It was the dwarf comment that really threw me mate. There all the same height..Thanks folks, no just that one, so we can walk up the stairs, instead of stopping up the stairs, to the landing...

Next time put a plank under the beam and acro,s under the plankBeams down.
House still up.
The centre section tried to take me out as it pivoted on the centre support.
