Seeing I dug the floor out, then it flooded, then dryed out and the previous one shows no cracks, no movement, my gut instinct is it's holding up the now, non existent floor.

And I agree with all of you obviously..

If I've a new thread tomorrow, 'oh poo, this happened', well you'll know...

We've got so many massive lumps of slate lying around, mainly big flat bits. Some up to 6 foot by 18 odd inches.. Paint to move..

Current temporary stairs..

A) in the wrong place, come out in future bathroom.

B) both kids have nearly slid down them, in the last week.

If you look carefully you can see the temporary specialist plumbing leak bucket, halfway up the banister, the leak off from the hot water tank expansion valve thingy pipe, can't be glued yet.

It leaks SO little, it evaporates in the bucket, but the wet patch at the bottom of the stairs did my head in.....

It's actually attached to the beam... Honest..

Next time put a plank under the beam and acro,s under the plank
Cut from above and it don't move.
Can even stick a few screws in just in case
