Hi again, while welding at around 275 amps on 0.8mm wire, if I fiddle with the feed rate sufficiently, I seem to be able to get into another 'mode' of welding.
Gone is the familiar crackling sound, gone is the spatter, and gone (seems to be) the transfer of discrete 'lumps' of filler to the weld pool.
Now what happens is a kind of high pitch hum, very smooth, and what I can describe as a constant jet of arc between torch and workpiece, a bit like a tig welding arc, but presumably filler material is also transferring across at the same time.
Am I breaking my machine, or is this spray transfer mode, or something else? Its really nice to do and make some very nice welds! I'd do it all the time if I knew what I'd done!
Cheers, Al.
