Is this Miller TIG worth the price ?

I have just seen this Miller TIG on ebay. Anyone knowing any more about these machines than I do, can advise me, is it worth risking over 500 on (including petrol)

I asume it is some sort of HF Dialarc, cant quite see what the writing says ?

(ps: I was planning on running it on 240v Till i get a place with 3 phase)

Yes, looks like a dialarc.

Good machines. With the footpedal and cooler it is a good price.

They do want lots of power. Something like 100 amp power source for 240V to get full output. 32A will do light welding; 64 would do what most would need it for.

Malcolm had on for sale; don't know if it ever sold.

I think the one Malcom has was a 500. I belive he decided to keep it ? I think this below is the one on auction. If so here is a clearer pic of it :

I think he had issues powering it and it took up too much room. I know my Airco 300 (predecessor to the Dialarc) will trip my 50A breaker if the contactor does not close cleanly.

I think his had contactor or gas solenoid problems. These old beats need cleaning of the contacts and controls over time. Thing is there is no real electronics, it is near all mechanical so easy to repair. Pulse models did have some electronics.

I took a gamble on my Airco. Was easy to fix. If it was bad, there was over $300 in copper in it and 300lbs of steel for scrap.

I've got the exact same machine but mine is green and is badged as a Marshall Dynabolt. I love it

Just gone to buy it and its gone. He has accepted an offer. (i would have paid his full price so its his lookout)

Always a risk asking others if its a bargain if those same people you ask are likely to bid on it I suppose
