a better way of cuttig a hole like this?
its a 44mm hole through 50mm box section, i used me hole saw in me pillar drill as that is the only way i could think of doing it.
i dont have a torch/plasma, so this were my only way, turned out very tidy though.
cheers, could of borrowed a mag drill, but never thought of it, doubt there would of been a cutter that size we it.
i got all the holes cut, only took ten mins a hole, so prety good going for a screwfix holesaw!!
We did a batch of rock sliders using this method 2 holes per slider, worked well we used a pillar drill and drilled straight through the section with a pilot drill first then used the cutter from both sides

Mag drills don't like thin material. They need something like 15mm thick for the maximum 'clamping' force to work, but will stick to thinner. The other thing they don't like is cutting with an edge like you are trying - the drill will slide when you start to cut, and the broach will skid across the box section.
You have probably selected the best method of drilling
