It's an 8ft high wooden fence, about 150ft long on that neighbours side. I have already propped up a section from my side.
These are pretty big 5 bed houses with fair size gardens. I would imagine the rent is not small, although the tenant does not seem too fussed.
I'm not looking for an argument f any kind.
I could even temporarily make good on their side if I had access permission, in fact I will offer that next with the tenant in leu of a proper repair by the landlord. (and make it look an eyesore their side, but I don't think they care)

Yep, it's just plain maintenance, replacing that run would not be cheap, so no hurry for the landlord...

permission is not from the owner do not touch that fence unless its falling onto your side only then do you have the right to reprop it back up or do a temporary repair so it stays up
if you take on the work of the fence when you dont own it then expect them to say your doing all of it
anything that is said to be in writing with the owners and registered its a boundary
id advice looking up what you can do with boundary repairs or replacement
if you take on any replacement expect it to cost you and not them
in that case build your own fence up at your own cost not theres
I seem recall that it used to be that it was up to the person living in the property to put up a fence if they didn't want dogs entering the area and by the same token , if you want to keep your dog in you pay for the fence if there is any refusal of the other joint party to share reasonable costs ..
1 mtr high galv. sheep wire fencing on short concrete posts just inside your boundary sounds useful unless there is a codicil in your deeds specifying otherwise .. Common shared boundary fences are a nightmare , if the next door legally offers a only fiver towards the cost of thousands .
I ended up putting in 9 foot brown recycled plastic H section posts all round my garden ( Qty 22 ?) just inside the boundary. Which was photographed showing the crap dead fencing beforehand , along with a copy of the front page of The Times in each of the pictures .
It was cheaper to buy a cheap Machine Mart chop saw to cut up ( bulk wood yard suppliers ) 6m lengths laths and T&G , then sprayed it all twice with a dark green wood preserver and made my own 24 slip in fence panels made with stainless steel screws and stainless nails .
The year after I'd made the fence . the next doors side with a massive privet hedge in it was torn apart in a storm , landlords/owners of the property not the renters tried to use solicitors to get me to pay half of the cost of renewing two L shaped runs of fence panels one of seven panels and one that made the corner of one panel . Ii sent them copies of my photos of my own work and a polite refusal to partake in their expensive escapade and they stopped pestering me . A few weeks later a team of professional fencing guys turned up and renewed all of the neighbours fence to a height of 1200mm instead of the original 178cm
remove ( Yippee ! ) all the privet hedge which always took a lot of sun off my garden . Judging by the cost of a neighbour two houses down when he had his rotting fence replaced that year I saved over £1600 doing it myself
25 post holes dug in just over a week , erecting panels as I progressed using a bit of steel screwed to a broom shaft for a 2 inch wide digging blade and an Aqua Vac wet & dry vacuum cleaner to suck out the chipped up soil as I sat on a comfy plastic chair to dig the post holes a metre deep and no bigger than needed .

Parents house is empty now - new neighbours have moved in next door.
Was cutting Dad's lawn the other week - noticed new fence panels fitted to the whole length of left hand side of Dads garden - this the side Dad was always responsible for - I know this as I put the concrete posts and gravel boards in for Dad about 20yrs ago...
Knocked on new neighbours door with a view to "tell them how nice the fence panels look and ask how much they were and I will pay them for it".
I was greeted by a newly retired away day cockney - the new house owner. All I got was - not really a load of mouth - but a stern - "it is my fence and it is none of your business".
I gracefully withdrew - I did tell them how nice they looked and offered to pay.
Unreal - how people get so protective over a fence that is not theirs...
Turns out - his neighbour also renewed the wrong side of his property on the other side of the garden. New cockney was demading him to replace the fence - and the nice chap just did it to keep the peace. When I spoke to this chap - he knew he was replacing the wrong fence - but did not want the row. He laughed and said "Peter you got a new free fence to help sell your Mum's house - suck the good luck up boy!"

Oh well mate, he has set the tone for the future...next time he has his head buried under his bonnet in the middle of winter with a none starter just smile and carry on.

He got a brand new Tesla down his driveway. Well I think it is newish - car got a "vanity plate" on it...
Chap while looking about my age - looked abit frail and unwell to headbut in the face while he was being rude to me.
Would guess he chucked in early - due to ill health.

The problem with these sort of people is:
The reason I don't mouth off at people - because in the end someone will thump me and I will be rolling around the floor.
But there is certain type of person - who just can't see it coming and will say anything to anybody. And mostly there are of the type you describe mate.
