Hi all, this is my first post and my only welding experience is some arc and gas welding at college some 25 odd years ago! So a complete novice really...
I have a rusty old transit van that needs it's wheel arches and other bits done. I have read lots of stuff on this great forum and looked at many ebay auctions and come to the conclusion that a new Clarke 90EN or 105EN would be the ticket as I don't plan to do any thick steel structural work.
However, I have read comments that no-gas welding car body panels for a beginner is a no-go and that gas is the way forward.
My main problem with gas is that I'm going to be working outside on a windy hilltop.
Now the question:
Has anyone, especially beginners, had any success with a Clarke no-gas welder on car body work?
I'm not looking to do a concourse restoration or any welding in MOT critical areas, but I would like to achieve a half decent job.
Cheers for any advice and comments :-)
