Acer pseudoplatanus is common Sycamore,it does not have seed pods, has "helicopter seeds" smooth barkBe careful of the sycamore. The leaves, bark and seed balls have fine hairs that are a major irritant and a real pain to work on them. Best done in winter.
Some say its just the seed balls, but we felled some last year when there were no balls. Just the leaves hitting the ground, and being chipped, gave me problems for a couple weeks afterwards.
I wouldnt want one right by my house for that reason, but do it in winter.
Platanus X Hispanica aka "london plane" is the one with seed pods. I dont get effected by them, never have and I have climbed hundreds if not thousands.
