the price of that elbow is a pi,,,s take there £6.29 on screwfix the same one go to page 450 pipe fittings screwfix all the compression fittings and adaptors are there real cheap £2.99 there for a conex one

Not quite sure what you're trying to achieve. Is the plastic side of that elbow a push-fit? Are you contemplating fitting the threaded bush into the plastic bit? If so, why?

Certainly I wouldn't contemplate a bodge using anything JB Weld on a compressed air system. Whatever you're trying to do, there will be a proper way of doing it.

yes it is for a blue pipe fitting but i can only get the blue pipe in five metre lengths at £60 each and i only want about 20cm of it to go into the elbow and then put a converter onto it to change it back to a 1/4 thread but im not spending all that money on pipe that wont be used but if i get that adapter stuck onto some way it will do the same job

Why not omit the elbow and convert the male thread on the pipe that went into it to 1/4 using an adaptor, bush or whatever?

It would be useful to fully understand what you are trying to achieve.

From the parts you list you are trying to put an elbow on 3/4 bsp then reduce to 1/4 bsp?

If you just trying to provide air around a workshop why not just use
Reinforced PVC Tubing, fittings available in nickel,brass and plastic and the tubing is cheap as chips.

I recommend eared clips to get the most secure joints.

I have it running out to my barn and it's been there for years with no issues, all the t pieces i used are plastic.

My rule of thumb, the least amount of joints then better.

What you are suggesting is not safe, if that fitting was to let go there is telling where it will end up.

how do you join the elbow to the filter regulator without buying 15m of plastic pipe thats all i bought it thinking the elbow had two 1/2 threads so all i would have to do is put a hose from the reg to the elbow and i bought two reducers to bring it down to 1/4. i bought it to go beside the filter oiler as it would be stronger and wouldn't pull from the wall, but when i got it only one end is threaded and now i would have to buy 15m meters of pipe which i dont need to put a converter on the end of to change it to 1/4 and then the hose to the reg but how could i connect the reducer to the elbow with out buying the 15m of pipe

You would be better off going to tool station they are cheaper and they sell everything you will need to do it. I used there stuff to plumb in my air compressor, it works very well.

It would be cheaper to buy the elbow I mentioned earlier.

One of my filter/regulators is screwed to the wall with the bracket supplied with it, the other is just supported by the pipe, which in turn is held to the wall with plastic clips.

I would say not, the elbow is brass, the reducer looks like steel.

You may be able to gouge out the plastic bits from the elbow and solder a brass reducer in, or braze in a steel one. Either way it's a bodge.

braze will melt the brass fitting . silver solder would be fine or even soft solder

Ok, I think I've got it now.

You already bought an elbow with 1/2 BSP one side and a 22 or 15mm push fit on the other?

Best option would be have look at this page and scroll down to

End Feed to BSP Female

Then all you would need is an offcut of copper pipe, solder the pipe to the end feed/BSP fitting and then stick the pipe into the pushfit, job done.

The issue will remain as to whether the wall plate you've bought is suitable for 150PSI+

The problem is if you are doing an order from BES you may as well buy the correct bits. Most of their wall plates cost no more than a couple of quid.

I fully understand wanting to use something you've already bought but if it's not right then it's not just something that your not happy with it's dangerous in this situation.

Can you not return the bit you've bought?

thanks never thought of using the copper tube the bend is from sealey and all there air compressors are 145psi and its in there air compressor part of the cataloge so i think it is safe

If the outlet is 15mm then you won't even need a 1/4 reducer as the do 15-1/4BSP
