I planned to use the 15mm diameter. I will use a single LED in bulb holder. I do not know what the thread is on bulb holder, but I know the metal ones are available. Some are brass and are silver coloured. They have a small screw on the exterior to fit earth wire *essential *.Please could you say what diameter pipe you are proposing and what size or style of light you want.
One thing that could help you are reducers - it is easy, for instance, to go from 15mm to 22mm or 15mm to 28mm.
The standard thread on 15mm compression stuff is 1/2" BSP, and it it easy to buy screwed bushes that go from 1/2" to any size up to 2".
