oh and one final final thing (sorry)..................
get an auto darkening mask. I used a cheapy non auto mask at first. id place my gun in the approx. area, put the mask down and then pull the trigger. not only was that bloody hard, but also the shade was to high so I couldn't see anything! purchased an auto mask and I just keep that on all the time cosyou can see everything and I have a muchclearer view of the puddle.
I got that ataround 3 hours in and it helped transform my welds from hideous to acceptable.
I have been at college for the last 4 years studying welding part time. Started with the MIG and then moved to TIG. I MIG all my fabrication jobs and would not jump straight in onto car body work without some practice first!! You really need to get an understanding of welding on thicker material and how to manage the weld pool before you jump in on a real job.
