Mate of mine wanted some flat bar so went to the stock holder that's only a couple of miles away from him. All was in 6.1 m lengths and he wanted to collect in his trailer. His job didn't require long pieces so they cut it with the gas axe into approx 2 m pieces. Never seen such a mess. Going to be a lot of waste by the time he's cleaned the ends up. Still cheaper than paying their exorbitant delivery charge which was several times the cost of the steel.

I'm also in Fife and have used Brundle's several times; last delivery was at the start of lockdown. By then they'd already laid off (or furloughed) the vast majority of their delivery drivers and (by now) have probably allowed stock to run down so perhaps not unsurprising. They have specific days they deliver to certain areas so under these circumstances a week isn't wholly unacceptable; can't remember what days Fife is!
Give them a call and they'll probably offer alternatives; perhaps slightly thicker section than you'd prefer but they've always been immensely helpful when I've called.

Absolutely horrendous cutting and delivery charges (or they were when I asked them for a quote for metal for work) compared to Brundle's but might be closer - depending which end of Fife the OP is from!
However, having spoken in person to one of their sales guys I did manage to blag a large steel plate for a welding table.

Didn't think cutting was required as looks like full lengths in the above order.
Delivery pee'd me off seeing as they are only 10 or so miles from me and I think they took £20 plus VAT or was it £30, can't remember. Steel however was cheap enough and on par with B&M in Aberdeen.
I don't buy much steel (all Alu or Stainless I buy) so not sure where is the best, well not that kind of steel, round bright etc I usually get from Kelvin Steels but that is a different thing altogether..
The boatyard buy from B&M so likely they get a better price from them.

I was referring more to what we needed at school as we don't have the facilties for cutting larger stuff up, and the eejits at the SQA come up with non-standard steel thicknesses and sizes for some of the assessment tasks - I suspect in all honesty it was (on their scale) such a small order that they just didn't want it! Luckily a local HVAC company run by former pupils have been in immense help and cut up with incredible accuracy cold-rolled plate that I can buy in smaller sizes from an educational supplier.
